Village Organic Kitchen - Revisit

3.5

A better ambience branch with standout ghee pongal, though the rest of the tiffins remain average.

3 October 2025

I visited Village Organic Kitchen in Chinna Kaparthy. In an earlier review I mentioned that the ambience at another branch felt average.

Many followers suggested trying this branch instead because it has better ambience, so we decided to visit for tiffins.

We ordered Ghee Pongal, Pesarattu, and the Breakfast Combo.

The Ghee Pongal had fennel seeds (saunf) in it, which was a first for me. Surprisingly, it worked well. The pongal was hot, tasty, and paired nicely with the sambar. This dish clearly stood out.

The Pesarattu tasted authentic and did not feel like it was mixed with dosa batter, which sometimes happens at other places. However, the taste was just okay. It would have been much better if it had been made slightly thicker like a traditional attu rather than a thin dosa style.

The Breakfast Combo (₹230) included one idly, poori, vada, a small bowl of pongal, one dosa, and a small cup of tea or coffee.

In this combo, the poori with curry was a big hit with my dad. The idly was average, while the vada was crispy and slightly oily, which actually worked well.

Finally, we ordered a single Ragi Idly, which also tasted good.

Overall, the pongal was the highlight, and the ambience here is definitely better compared to the branch I previously visited.

The total bill came to ₹599.
