Rameshwaram Cafe

1.5

An overhyped cafe experience where high prices and inconvenient dining overshadow the food.

5 February 2025

I visited The Rameshwaram Cafe in Madhapur to see whether the hype around the place matched the actual experience. Unfortunately, the visit turned out to be disappointing.

One of the first things that stood out was the ₹50 valet parking charge, which didn’t feel reasonable. The dining setup itself was inconvenient, as customers either have to stand and eat or manage with the plates provided while standing. This becomes especially difficult for elderly people or when ordering multiple items.

The pricing also felt quite high, and surprisingly there wasn’t even a basic dosa option on the menu. I tried the Ghee Podi Masala Dosa, which had excessive ghee and was over roasted, making it extremely crispy, almost like a papad. It was so hard that it actually caused jaw discomfort while eating.

Next was the Poori with Curry, but the curry lacked basic flavor, making the dish quite underwhelming.

I also ordered Masala Vada, which turned out to be the biggest mistake of the meal. It had a strange taste that completely spoiled my appetite, and it cost ₹70.

The Masala Tea was decent, but paying ₹70 for tea felt overpriced. The chutneys were below average and didn’t add much value to the dishes.

One small positive point was that they provide free drinking water, which at least saved the experience slightly.

The total bill came to ₹475.
