Poruginti Chepala Pulusu

3.5
A homestyle Telugu curry spot where the prawns curry shines but the overall experience can be inconsistent.
14 November 2024
I visited Poruginti Chepala Pulusu near Hi Tech City Road, Borabanda to try their popular non veg combos. The restaurant is known for serving homestyle Telugu curries, but the experience can vary depending on the day.
We ordered the 3 Non Veg Combo, selecting Royyala Curry, Chepala Pulusu, and Boti Fry. The meal was served with white rice, bagara rice, and ragi mudda, giving a good variety of traditional accompaniments.
The Royyala Curry (prawns) turned out to be the best dish of the meal. It had a rich flavor and balanced spices, making it the highlight.
The Boti Fry was average, nothing particularly special but still decent to eat with rice.
However, the Chepala Pulusu, which is usually their signature dish, was surprisingly disappointing this time. The flavor didn’t feel as strong or satisfying as expected.
There are a few important things to keep in mind before visiting. The place operates on a self service system, the space is quite small, and you might have to wait for a table during busy hours. Hygiene standards are also not the best, so visitors should be aware of that.
Another thing to note is that many curries sell out quickly, so the available options might be limited depending on when you arrive.
The total bill came to ₹1260.
