Pappannam

2.5
A clean rice bowl spot with decent comfort combos, but several items fail to impress.
7 April 2025
I visited Pappannam in Madhapur to try a few of their rice bowl style dishes.
The Muddapappu Avakaya turned out to be disappointing. It did not taste spoiled, but it lacked the strong punch and flavor you usually expect from this classic combination.
The Pappannam with Dondakaya Fry was more satisfying. Hot rice mixed with ghee and aloo gave a comforting, homely feel, making this combination enjoyable.
The Sambar Rice was decent, but it reminded me of a typical school lunchbox mix rather than a fresh restaurant preparation. The experience could have been better if they served extra sambar to enhance the flavor.
On the drinks side, both the Cold Coffee and Tea were underwhelming. The cold coffee felt completely off in taste, while the tea tasted more like flavored water.
We also tried the Coconut Junnu, but it did not live up to expectations.
The Chekara Pongal was unavailable, but the staff refunded the amount, which was a positive gesture.
On a positive note, the place felt clean and hygienic, and the quantity served was sufficient.
The total bill came to ₹724.
