Overhyped pulao experience where poor flavor and long waits ruin the visit.

15 March 2025

I visited Pandala Paaka Apparao in Madhapur, a place known for its Rajahmundry style pulao, after hearing a lot of hype about their Hyderabad outlet.

Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be extremely disappointing from the beginning. The restaurant was overcrowded, and the ventilation was very poor, making the place feel uncomfortably hot while waiting.

After spending a long time waiting for the token and the food, we were informed that the Basamati Pulao was unavailable. Because of that, we had to settle for the regular pulao instead.

When the dish finally arrived, the chicken lacked the expected Rajahmundry style flavor. Instead, it tasted more like plain boiled chicken without proper spice infusion. The pulao itself felt similar to plain white rice mixed with chicken curry, reminding me of a basic hostel style Sunday meal rather than a specialty dish.

Considering the hype surrounding the place, the taste and overall experience did not justify the expectations.

For now, it might be better to give the place some time before trying it.
