Pancha Kattu Dosa

3.5
Great pongal and crispy dosa make it worth visiting, though chutney quality has slightly dropped.
20 January 2025
I visited Pancha Kattu Dosa in Kavuri Hills to try their popular tiffins. The experience was mostly positive, with a few small inconsistencies.
The highlight of the meal was the Ghee Pongal with Sambar. The pongal was rich, flavorful, and comforting, and when paired with the sambar it tasted excellent. It is easily the best item to try here. One small tip is to ask for the sambar separately, which improves the overall experience.
Next, I tried the dosa. The dosa itself was crispy and flavorful, making it enjoyable. However, the Ghee Karam Palya dosa felt inconsistent, especially with the amount of ghee used. Because of that, the regular Karam Palya dosa felt like a better and more balanced option.
The idly was soft and thin, which made it quite enjoyable. Even people who usually don’t prefer idly might still like it here because of its light texture.
One area where the restaurant seems to have declined slightly is the chutney. Compared to earlier visits, the taste has dropped a bit, which was noticeable.
Another thing to keep in mind is the crowd. The place tends to get very busy on weekends, and seating is limited, so visiting on weekdays would give a better experience.
The total bill came to ₹205.
