Masala Republic

2.5

A fusion menu with interesting concepts, but only the palak paneer and ghee rumali truly impress.

8 November 2024

I visited Masala Republic in Gachibowli with friends to try some of their fusion dishes. Items like Manchuria and Samosa Chaat usually have a strong fan base outside, so we were curious to see how they perform here.

We started with the Republic Cheese Tawa Chow Mein Burger (₹149). The concept looked interesting, but the burger was difficult to eat and the taste felt average, making it more about presentation than flavor.

Next was Chatka Chole Samosa (₹179). Unfortunately, it didn’t have the strong chaat flavor punch that you would normally expect. It felt quite basic.

We then tried Red Hot Chilli Pepper Oriental Veggies (₹399). Despite the name suggesting a spicy dish, it wasn’t spicy at all and lacked strong seasoning, making it a bit disappointing.

For the main course, we ordered Ghee Rumali (₹89) along with Palak Paneer (₹379). These two dishes were actually the highlight of the meal. The rumali roti was soft and the palak paneer was rich, flavorful, and satisfying.

Next came Peri Peri Paneer Sesame Lollies (₹279). The name sounded creative, but the taste felt like simple paneer bhaji, without anything particularly special.

Finally, we tried Calcutta Dry Manchurian (₹279). The manchuria was decent, but it still needed stronger seasoning and flavor to stand out.

The total bill came to ₹1871.
