Illu The Restaurant

4

A comforting traditional meal with homely flavors that perfectly captures the essence of Andhra bhojanam.

20 August 2025

I started a new series called “Bhale Manchi Bhojanam”, where I highlight some of the best meals I’ve tried across different restaurants. This was the first episode, and the focus was strictly on the meals experience, not other menu items.

For this episode, I visited Illu Restaurant in Jubilee Hills.

The meal started with pachi karpuram flavored chekarapongali, which tasted divine and set the tone for the rest of the bhojanam. It was aromatic and well balanced.

Next came the rice with tomato pappu, which immediately reminded me of homely cooking. The bendakaya vepudu was well prepared and tasted just right.

Several side dishes added depth to the meal, including aratikaya fry, beerakaya sengapappu, and roti pachadi, creating a wholesome spread that felt very comforting.

The meal was rounded off with sambar, rasam, and perugu annam, completing the bhojanam perfectly.

Overall, this meal truly felt like comfort food at its best.

The ambience was good and the service was quick. The restaurant offers valet parking, but wheelchair accessibility is not available. Kitchen hygiene is something customers should personally check.

The total bill came to ₹813, with the meal priced at ₹349 per person.
