Gudivada Alankar Family Restaurant

2.5
A hyped spot with decent dishes, but overall taste feels too basic to justify the buzz.

After seeing multiple reels claiming a 40-year legacy and a “must try” tag, I visited Gudivada Alankar Family Restaurant. Straight to the point, the food felt very normal despite the hype.
We started with the Alankar Special Boneless Chicken (₹269). The dish had a mild sweetness with a slight tangy note and crispy cashews, which made it decent. But overall, it didn’t feel extraordinary, and the quantity seemed less for the price. Also, it would have been better if served hotter.
Next was the Alankar Special Chicken Fried Rice (₹299). Interestingly, the fried rice and chicken curry were served separately. Taste wise, it felt very basic, nothing memorable. A friend who had tried it at the Gudivada branch mentioned that the original branch tasted much better, which says a lot.
We also tried the Chicken Fry Piece Biryani (₹229). This felt more like a chicken fry piece bagara rice rather than a proper biryani. The taste was just okay.
They also served a complimentary rasam, which felt a bit random and didn’t really add to the meal.
Due to the heavy crowd driven by reel hype and limited staff, the service was delayed, which affected the experience. If you’re planning to visit, it might be better to wait for the rush to settle down.
There is limited parking, and no wheelchair accessibility. As always, kitchen hygiene is something you should personally check.
The total bill came to ₹897.
