Casa Laban

3.5

A dessert spot with standout Umm Ali and Heba Cake, though the kunafa tart was a major miss.

23 October 2025

I visited Casa Laban in Toli Chowki for desserts after a disappointing biryani experience earlier that day. The visit turned out to be a mix of excellent desserts and one major miss.

We first tried the Nutella Kunafa Tart. Unfortunately, it tasted strange, almost like detergent. Both the tart base and the kunafa lacked proper flavour and balance. However, the staff handled it professionally. They gave us a sample of their Choco Lava Tart and mentioned they would work on fixing the tart base. That was a good service recovery effort.

Coming to the hits:

The Umm Ali was the absolute highlight of the visit. Served hot with mild sweetness, it felt refreshing and comforting. It was so good that it even convinced my friend who previously disliked Umm Ali at another place.

The Dubai Heba Cake was next level. Soft brownie layers combined with rich chocolate and pistachio sauce made it a standout dessert.

The Cheese Berry Gelato was creamy and well balanced with a mild tangy sweetness.

Overall, if you are looking to try unique desserts beyond the usual options, Casa Laban is worth a visit.

Total bill came to ₹894.
