Bengaluru Bhavan

1.5
The crowd may convince you to walk in, but the food is unlikely to convince you to return.
4 May 2026
On 04 May 2026, my third day in Vijayawada took me to Bengaluru Bhavan, a place with vehicles lined up outside and a packed dining hall. Looking at the crowd, I expected one of the city's best tiffin experiences. Unfortunately, the food told a completely different story.
We ordered Idly, Ven Pongal, Mysore Bajji, Rava Dosa, and Poori.
Surprisingly, not a single item managed to rise above average. Every dish felt underwhelming, and the biggest disappointment was the chutneys. When a restaurant cannot get its chutneys right, it usually reflects the overall attention given to the food.
The Ven Pongal was particularly confusing. It almost felt like vegetable sambar had been mixed into the pongal, making it difficult to even identify the dish properly.
The Poori didn't help either. The accompanying curry was so disappointing that it completely spoiled the experience. It honestly made me rethink ordering poori during the rest of my Vijayawada trip.
At one point, I genuinely felt that hostel sambar rice would have been a better choice.
For a restaurant that attracts such heavy crowds, the overall experience was far below expectations.
There were five of us, and the total bill came to just ₹345. While the pricing is budget friendly, it wasn't enough to make up for the food quality.
Parking information wasn't available, and there is no wheelchair accessibility. As always, kitchen hygiene is something you should personally check before dining.
