as part of the Mana Godavari series, I visited Atreyapuram, the place famous for the legendary Pootharekulu.
Pootharekulu is not just a sweet. It is a cultural symbol of the Godavari region, loved by people of all ages, from childhood to old age. Behind these delicate paper thin sweets lies the hard work and dedication of local artisans who prepare them with patience and skill.
During our visit, we also experienced the warm hospitality of the locals. An elderly woman who was preparing Pootharekulu offered an extra piece for every member of our team. When we tried to pay more for the additional sweets, she politely refused to accept the extra money.
That moment beautifully reflected the generosity, humility, and kindness often associated with the people of the Godavari region.
Experiences like this remind us that food is not only about taste, but also about the people and stories behind it.
